MELAKA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak took time off from his busy schedule to watch the Barisan Nasional Elected Representatives Wives Annual Sports Tournament (PTIWRBNM) badminton games here today.
Najib arrived at the badminton court at 3.13pm and spent about two hours watching the women's team play.
In the tournament, four teams - Welfare Association of Wives of Ministers and Deputy Ministers (Bakti) battled it out against Association of Wives of Ministers and Assistant Ministers of Sarawak (Sabati) while Wives of Perak State Assemblymen (Baiduri) pitted against the Association of Wives of Sabah Barisan Nasional Elected Representatives (Bakisa).
The Bakti team was led by Najib’s wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor who doubled with Datin Seri Lee Sun Loo, who is Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai’s wife, against Sabati’s Datuk Dayang Morliah Awang Daud and Dorothy Anak Sylvester Pungga.
Rosmah’s team won two sets with 21-5 and 21-7 respectively.
Her previous training clearly paid off as she showed off her prowess in the badminton court.
Bakti team however clinched third place overall defeating Sabati with a 3-0 game score.
For the first and second placing, Bakisa won against Baiduri with a 3-2 game score.
Best contingent parade was awarded to Sabati while best attire went to Bakti.
Themed “Sukan, Sihat, Hijau”, a total of 580 participants from across the country battled it out in various events including badminton, golf and bowling.
Also present were Perlis Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azlan Man, Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Idris Haron, Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, Sabah Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman, Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah and Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman.
Supporters who consisted of elected representatives and association members were seen cheering for their respective teams.
