REMBAU: Two Chinese nationals were among four injured in an accident at Km232 of the North-South Expressway (NSE) today.

In the 1pm incident, the two Chinese nationals, a woman and a man, and two local men aged 30, sustained injuries after the multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) they were travelling in skidded and plunged into a 15-metre deep ravine before the vehicle burst into flames.

Passers-by managed to pull the victims out of the Toyota Vellfire in time before the MPV was engulfed by the flames.

Rembau Fire and Rescue Department chief Mohd Fuad Majid said the department received an emergency call at 1.16pm and 15 firemen were deployed to the location.

“When we arrived at the location, the four victims have already been brought out from the car. They were sent to Tampin Hospital by a team from the Emergency Medical Services (EMRS).

“We managed to put out the fire in five minutes but the vehicle could not be saved. It was destroyed in the incident,” he said when contacted today.
