The search is still on for an angler who has been missing off the waters of Pulau Gaya since Tuesday.

KOTA KINABALU: The search is still on for an angler who has been missing off the waters of Pulau Gaya since Tuesday.

Abdul Molah Mansol, 46, from Pulau Gaya, had set out to sea from the island at 5.30am on the day of his disappearance. He was supposed to return in the evening.

Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) Sabah and Labuan regional director Rear Admiral Datuk Mohd Zubil Mat Som said they were informed by the marine police of the man's disappearance yesterday.

“A MMEA boat was despatched to conduct a search around the man's last known location, which was just under 10 nautical miles off Pulau Sulug," he said.

The search has yet to yield results.

Today, the search area was widened to include Pulau Tiga waters. Other assets including KM Bistari, KM Memmon, Sabah Parks' boats as well as fishing vessels have joined in the search.

The agency has also urged the maritime community around the areas to assist in the search.
