BATU GAJAH: A woman was killed while her father and son were injured when the car they were travelling in crashed into a traffic light at Batu Gajah Central, Jalan Pusing here, last night.
In the 8.40pm incident, Fauzidah Ahmad, 46 who was in the front passenger seat of her Perodua Kancil died at the scene due to serious head injuries.
Her father, 73, who was driving the car suffered serious chest and head injuries while her eight-year-old son had minor injuries.
Batu Gajah police chief, Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Tarmizi Shaari said the victims were heading to Pekan Batu Gajah before the driver lost control of the car.
He said the car then slammed into a road divider before crashing into a traffic light.
“The impact caused the woman to be flung out of the car. She was pronounced dead on the spot.
“The driver however suffered serious injuries while the son had minor injuries,” he said when contacted today.
Tarmizi said Fauzidah's remains was sent to Batu Gajah Hospital’s forensics unit for post-mortem.
“Her father was sent to Raja Permaisuri Bainun while her son was sent to Batu Gajah Hospital for further treatment,” he said.
Tarmizi added the accident took place at a junction located in a rural area.
