KUALA PILAH: A senior citizen was left injured when he was attacked by a metre-tall wild boar near his house in Padang Lebar, here.

Marzuki Mohd Yassin, 72, had inspected the back of his house at 11.30pm yesterday after hearing loud noises.

He then saw a full-grown adult boar digging the ground for potatoes. The boar, upon realising his presence, turned aggressive and turned to attack him.

Marzuki's mother, Iyah Bada, 89, said her son tried to run away but fell down at the front yard.

She said he struggled to defend himself as the boar gored him in the face, as well as his arms and legs.

"I screamed for help before my neighbor came to help. The neighbour struck the boar and poked its eyes several times before the animal turned and fled," she said.

The neighbour then brought Marzuki inside the house before calling an ambulance.

Marzuki was sent to Tuanku Ampuan Najihah Hospital (HTAN) for treatment.

Iyah said she was told the wild boar was later found dead near their home.

Meanwhile, Kuala Pilah District Police Chief, Superintendent Haslah Bachok said upon being informed of the situation, a police team was sent to the location.
