MELAKA: A 7-year-old girl was saved by firemen after being trapped in her father’s car for 15 minutes at a petrol station in Lebuh Alor Gajah-Melaka Tengah-Jasin (AMJ) last night.

In the event happened at 10.30 pm, the victim was said to have fallen asleep in the Perodua Myvi after her father went to purchase items at a supermarket.

The father, in his 30’s, panicked after failing to unlock the door.

Kubu’s Head of Fire and Rescue Station, Deputy Superintendent, Kamarulzaman Mohd Din said after a distress call at 10.10 pm, a team of seven firemen, led by Senior Operations Officer II, Salehin Abd Ghani rushed to the scene.

“The officers shone a flashlight in the girl’s direction but she was unresponsive. Then, they used special equipment to unbolt the car door.”

Kamarulzaman said the process took five minutes before the door was successfully pried open.
