IPOH: Youths should embrace the fourth industrial revolution or Industry 4.0 as the nation continues to transform for the better, Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir said.
Zambry said the younger generation need to equip themselves with the right skills to face the Industry 4.0 era or the evolution in digitalisation and automation of manufacturing processes.
"Industry 4.0 is a new era that will change everything. Technologies that we have right now will be left behind and the only thing that remain is one's skill," he stressed.
Zambry said this in his speech at the launch of Sustainable Community Development Initiative (1MPAK) programme, an initiative by Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara), at SMK Dato' Ahmad Said here
Launched by the Rural and Regional Development minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaacob on Jan 27, the initiative is also aimed at achieving social and economic mobility, especially for low (B40) and medium (M40) income households.
Zambry added he was confident that the 1MPAK programme would give a strong impact to the youth in the state especially in employability.
"The program is not only creating job opportunity to the youth here but also upgrading their skills too.
"The state government has also created the same programme and we named it Peka (Pusat Kerjaya Amanjaya). I hope the collaboration between MARA and Peka will create more job opportunity in the state and bring a big impact to the state," he added.
Earlier, Zambry and thousand people from all walks of life joined in a Perak Fit Programme which was part of his meet-the-people programme here.
