KUALA LUMPUR: University of Malaya (UM) ranks 27th among 378 universities in the Times Higher Education (THE) Emerging Economies University Ranking 2018.
China’s Peking University and Tsinghua University rank first and second respectively while UM was also named best performing university in the country.
In a statement today, UM’s Vice Chancellor Datuk Abdul Rahim Hashim said it was UM’s first participation in the ranking system.
“UM will continue to focus on strengthening its fundamentals through the many phases of its Strategic Plans. UM aims to improve its linkages and collaborations with strategic industries and international partners,” he said.
THE-EEUR ranking methodology uses five core indicators: teaching, research, citations, international outlook and industry outcome. -- BERNAMA
