IPOH: State governments administered by Pakatan Harapan (PH) have been advised not to be hasty in taking any action on Government-Linked Companies (GLCs) in their respective states, especially after the transfer of power.
PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the menteris besar and chief ministers should take the necessary action based on good governance for the benefit of the people, especially supporters of PH.
“Do not rush to take action, do not be vengeful. I have no problem with GLCs, if their performance is good and the menteri besar thinks it’s appropriate to continue, we accept (the continuance).
“But if proven at the federal level there is wasteful overlapping and excessive payment of allowances to political figures, then this should be stopped,’ he told reporters after a meeting with the new Perak Menteri Besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu and state executive councillors (excos) here, today.
In the context of Perak, Anwar said the menteri besar and excos should pay attention to any GLC found in violation of good governance.
Asked if the Perak government needed to audit the existing GLCs in the state, Anwar said it might be a necessary approach, but believed the menteri besar would do what was best.
In the meantime, Anwar advised state leaders in Perak to safeguard the administration and implement good governance as well as show strong commitment to integrity so that Perak can be clean of abuse of power and corruption.
Anwar also expressed his gratitude to the Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Shah who is ready to give his views for the success and progress of the state. - BERNAMA
