PUTRAJAYA: The 2018 World Cup tournament in Russia will be aired live on RTM 1, for free.

Communications and Multimedia Minister, Gobind Singh Deo, said the details on the selected matched will be revealed in the near future.

“For now, we are announcing that the World Cup will be aired on RTM1. Other information will be relayed at a later date.

“Maybe tomorrow (Thursday),” he told the press after the Cabinet meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office in Putrajaya, today.

He said the matter was brought to Cabinet this morning and approved.

Gobind had yesterday said he would bring the proposal to Cabinet, on obtaining broadcast rights for the 2018 World Cup tournament in Russia for local football fans.,

The World Cup kicks off on June 14 and ends on July 15.
