TASEK GELUGOR: Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) has seen a significant increase in its members after the recent 14th general elections.
Amanah president Mohamad Sabu said their membership now stands at more than 100,000 nationwide.
“Definitely, we have seen an increase in members after the recent polls.
“This is a good sign as we are confident that Amanah is the party for the future of Malaysia,” he told newsmen when met at his Hari Raya open house today.
Also present were Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng and DAP’s Iskandar Puteri member of parliament Lim Kit Siang.
Asked if there are those who shunned their previous party to join Amanah, Mohamad, who is popularly known as Mat Sabu, said he would announce the matter from time to time.
“It is easy for us to immediately take in normal members.
“But if there are leaders (from other political parties) planning to join us, we will have to look at it and discuss further.
“I did hear of leaders (from other political parties) who are planning to join us,” he added.
On the open house, Mohamad said he was happy to see the high number of attendees from various political parties, including Umno and Pas.
“This shows that everyone accepted the results of the recent polls and are moving on together to build a better Malaysia.
“I do expect positive changes in the near future,” he added.
