KUALA NERUS: AirAsia is offering promotional prices for Harimau Malaya fans traveling to Hanoi for the second leg of the AFF Suzuki Cup final on Saturday.
AirAsia Bhd group chief executive officer Tan Sri Tony Fernandes said the offer was to ensure that many more Malaysians could fly to Vietnam to support the national team.
He said discussions would be held on Tuesday with the management of the No Bai International Airport in Hanoi to possibly increase the number of slots for AirAsia flights into the Vietnamese capital.
“Malaysia needs as much support as possible. When I was in Hanoi, I saw that the people there went crazy and their national team won. We (AirAsia) will try to arrange things.
“What we are trying to do is get flights to take off from Bangkok (if we can’t increase the number of flights from Malaysia) and we will use bigger aircraft.
“If we don’t get the slots or the rights, we will work with the Football Association of Malaysia and the Ultras Malaya,” he said after a programme at Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin.
The first leg of the final will be played on Tuesday at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil, while the return leg will be played at Hanoi’s My Dinh Stadium on Saturday.
