KUALA LUMPUR: Former Anggerik State Assemblyman Dr Yaakob Sapari and assistant to Puchong MP, Suresh Singh Rashpal Singh were sworn in as a member of the Dewan Negara today.
Both were sworn in for a term of three years before the Speaker of the Senate Tan Sri S.A. Vigneswaran.
When met by reporters, Yaakob, who is also the former Selangor state exco, said he would give due importance to issues related to the state as well as raising other issues in the Dewan Negara.
Yaakob is also the Shah Alam PKR Branch Chairman.
Suresh said the issue of health and welfare would be among the main things he would bring to the Dewan Negara.
"I will try my best as a new member of the Senate as this is thsese issues affect the community," he said, Suresh who is also the Head of the Kenari DAP Branch chairman. — BERNAMA
