PEKAN: It is up to the Conference of Rulers to decide on the appointment of the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
Sultan of Pahang Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah said he is confident that the Conference of Rulers will make a wise decision over the matter.
“That is a very strong question. I will not jump to conclusion. I will leave that to the decision of the Conference of Rulers," he said when asked to comment if he was ready to be made Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
I am sure they will make a wise and right decision,” said Sultan Abdullah after a feast held in conjunction with his proclamation as the sixth modern Sultan of Pahang at Istana Abu Bakar, here, today.
Asked if he can work with the current Pakatan Harapan (PH) government, Sultan Abdullah ensured all quarters that he can work with anyone.
"I am a Ruler who can be approached by anyone. I am willing to work and I am willing to serve.
“If you are destined to be there, you will be there” he said.
When asked to comment that a ruler from Pahang was next in line to be appointed as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Abdullah replied: “All in the hands of God.”
Sultan Abdullah also fielded questions on who would be made as the new Tengku Mahkota of Pahang.
“I have to discuss with members of my family.
“God willing, many predicted that it (appointment of Tengku Mahkota Pahang) will be done according to tradition.
"An announcement will be made soon.”
It was previously reported that Tengku Panglima Besar Pahang Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah could be the next in line as Tengku Mahkota Pahang since he is the heir apparent/the eldest son to the Ruler of the state.
“He (Tengku Panglima Besar Pahang) is not here as he is completing his studies at the Sandhurst Royal Military Academy in the United Kingdom. And he sent his regards to all," Sultan Abdullah said.
