PUTRAJAYA: Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Osman Sapian held a 30-minute meeting with Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad at the Prime Minister’s Office here this evening.
It is learnt that Osman entered the compound of the building at about 3pm but his meeting with Dr Mahathir only began at about 5.45pm.
Members of the media who had gathered outside the building’s main gate were unable to meet him. Osman gave reporters the slip when he exited with his motorcade through another gate.
Berita Harian reported that the meeting took about 30 minutes.
Many news outlets had reported about speculations over Osman’s resignation as menteri besar since yesterday.
His resignation would also pave the way for a possible reshuffle of the 11-member state executive council.
Sources had said that there were speculations over the Kempas assemblyman’s announcement, which would be made after the meeting with Dr Mahathir, who is also Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) chairman.
Osman, 67, is overseeing the state’s natural resources, administration, finance, planning and economic development portfolios.
