SHAH ALAM: Upgrading works on the water supply system at Sungai Selangor Phase 2 Water Treatment Plant (LRA SSP2) were completed at 11pm last night, Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) said this morning.

Its customer relations and communications department head Abdul Raof Ahmad said the plant would be reactivated soon to allow the process of channeling treated water supply to the main pool and distribution system before it can be channeled to consumers.

"The process is expected to take 24 hours.

"Restoration is in stages and different for each area. It depends on the geographical location and altitude of the consumers' premises," he said in a statement, here today.

The 86-hour shutdown of LRA SSP2, which began yesterday, had affected some 4.1 million consumers in Klang, Shah Alam, Petaling, Gombak, Kuala Lumpur, Kuala Langat and Kuala Selangor.

Air Selangor is providing 99 water tankers including 17 jumbo tankers during the disruption period.

It is also placing 106 strategic tanks at critical premises as well as at strategic locations besides providing public water pipe facility at nine locations and specialised water filling stations for purchase of water by industrial customers.
