JOHOR BARU: A woman was found dead in her home at Taman Impian Emas here, this morning; while her low-functioning disabled 12-year-old son was discovered on the verge of starvation in one of the bathrooms of the house.
The remains of Chiong Chan Lin, 63, were found sprawled in the living room of her home after one of her adult children attempted to enter the premises, but was unable to open the front door.
Concerned over their mother’s and brother’s safety, the individual made an emergency call to the Larkin Fire and Rescue station at 12.40am.
“A team of nine personnel from the station was despatched to the scene in one vehicle, along with an EMRS unit.
“We took five minutes to gain entry to the premises.
“We found the woman lying lifeless in the living room; and the boy in one of the bathrooms. He was in a state of extreme hunger and thirst,” Larkin Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Saifulizam Mohd Salleh said in a statement, today.
He added that rescue personnel immediately provided liquids for the dehydrated boy, who is believed to have gone without food and drink for four days.
Saifulizam added that the case was handed over to the police for an investigation.
