SUNGAI PETANI: A 19-year-old medical student at a private university here died after falling from the fourth floor of the institution’s library, today.

The Penang youth’s remains were found on the ground floor by students who had heard a loud thump in the area at about 3.30pm.

The teen had died from severe injuries to the head.

It is learnt that the student was a bright scholar with no problems with regard to school fee payment.

“However, the student had been contacted by his father one hour before the incident. The teen’s family had wanted to hand over some of his clothes and a necklace.

“They had agreed to meet (at the university) today,” said Kuala Muda police chief Assistant Commissioner Adzli Abu Shah.

Further investigation revealed that the student was to sit for an examination tomorrow, and police are trying to determine if he was experiencing undue stress, he added.

According to Adzli, the case, as of now, is classified as “sudden death”.
