KUALA LUMPUR: Those with evidence of donations made by the previous government to victims of the Sri Lanka conflict, in which the Tamil militant organisation Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) was involved, should lodge a report on the matter.

Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said this was to enable the authorities to investigate claims that the previous government administration had contributed US$1 million to Sri Lankan Tamils in 2012 for relief as a result of their displacement.

Reports claimed that the money, channeled through MIC, was given to the Malaysian Tamil Forum and meant to assist Tamils in Sri Lanka affected by the war.

“We don’t have clear evidence (on such claim). If you have such evidence, we ask that (you) lodge a report so that action could be taken,” said the prime minister in response to a supplementary question by Kesavan Subramaniam (PH-PKR-Sungai Siput).
