KUALA LUMPUR: Police will be monitoring Dataran Merdeka tonight where protesters are expected to rally over the ongoing political crisis in the country.

Dang Wangi district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Fahmi Visuvanathan Abdullah said police received information about the demonstration from a poster which went viral on social media in the last 24 hours.

"A police team will be stationed at Dataran Merdeka tonight to monitor the situation," he said when contacted here today.

Dubbed ‘Demokrasi Mati, Ayuh Turun ke Jalan’ (Democracy is Dead, Let’s Take to the Streets), the protest is planned to start at 8.30pm.
