KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) has unanimously agreed for Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to be the eighth Prime Minister.
Its chief Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said Dr Mahathir was still needed by the country.
He added that only a leader like Dr Mahathir was capable of managing and putting the country's economy back on track.
"Dr Mahathir is needed by the country to continue the planned development agenda and manage the country's economy.
"Therefore, Sabah Bersatu will give full support to Dr Mahathir to be appointed as the eighth Prime Minister to unite the people," he said in a statement, adding the move would create a more stable government.
Hajiji, who is also Sulaman assemblymen, said that besides the economic downturn, the country was also facing other problems such as the Covid-19 outbreak.
"Sabah Bersatu has faith in Dr Mahathir and believes that he is the only one who can form a better government for the people."
