PETALING JAYA: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has denied that DAP is leading the Pakatan Harapan coalition.
The Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) chairman said this in response to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's claim that the opposition pact was being led by DAP.
“This is untrue. In Pakatan Harapan, there are three parties which are led by Malays and have become the majority. DAP is not the majority.
“PKR and Parti Amanah Negara (PAN) have more assemblymen than DAP.
“If they (PKR and PAN) are stupid, they will choose DAP as the leader but they are not that stupid,” Dr Mahathir told a press conference today.
The former prime minister said that as a democratic entity, Pakatan Harapan will be led by the party with the most seats in the Parliament.
On Tuesday in his keynote address at Invest Malaysia 2017, Najib said DAP had "invisible" control of the pact, based on its numerical superiority in Parliament.
