SHAH ALAM: Selangor Umno liaison committee deputy chief Datuk Mat Nadzari Ahmad Dahlan said the Selangor Menteri Besar’s aide should look in the mirror before taking shots at Barisan Nasional with claims of corruption and bad leadership.
Nadzari said Datuk Seri Azmin Ali's strategic communications director, Yin Shao Loong, should not paint the perception that Pakatan Harapan leaders are graft-free and boasts excellent leadership.
"If Yin wants to talk about corruption, Pakatan Harapan leaders are far worse as their leaders have been subjected to investigations by enforcers, dragged to court and some even jailed. And we are talking about leaders from a coalition that had just started administrating a state and they have already shown their true colours.
"So it happens to them too and Yin should not single Barisan Nasional out. Yin should access themselves and evaluate if they are really clean before he opens his mouth and talks about another party," said Nadzari.
The Batang Kali assemblyman was responding to a statement issued by Yin, who also said that Umno and Barisan Nasional will continue to be rejected at the polls because it has failed to deal with its baggage of corruption, bad leadership and inability to reform itself.
Nadzari said it was not only corruption that is 'snynonymous' with Pakatan Harapan.
Cronyism and nepotism, he added, thrives within the coalition made up of DAP, PKR, Parti Amanah Negara and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia.
"Look at their respective committees, those sitting on it are the cronies. It is also evident there is nepotism in certain parties too. Yin wants to talk bad about Umno and Barisan Nasional. But he failed to see that they have flaws as well," Nadzari told the New Straits Times.
Meanwhile, Shah Alam Umno division chief Datuk Azhari Shaari said Yin's statement were words of a desperate man trying to please the bosses in Pakatan Harapan.
Azhari said Yin was forced to say this because they know they are going to be defeated in the 14th general election and aware that that they have no chance of becoming the government in Selangor.
"Such statement was done to boost their confidence level to make it as if they are going to win Selangor again. But how can it be so when they themselves are in deep trouble. Internally, they are fighting with each other. Issues such as seat allocations could not be resolved.
"Barisan Nasional is focused. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and Selangor state leaders will field the best candidates to wrest Selangor. We are confident of winning because the support from the people towards Barisan Nasional has become stronger and the momentum is growing.
"The people know that the Prime Minister has their interest at heart and he is doing a lot for them," said Azhari.
