KOTA KINABALU: Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) will assist and work with the local Barisan Nasional (BN) candidates in the upcoming general election.

LDP president Datuk Seri Teo Chee Kang said the support will ensure BN will continue to rule with a bigger majority.

“The party welcomes Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's renewed affirmation that Malaysia is governed based on the principles of ‘wasatiyyah’ or moderation.

“UMNO, as the backbone of BN, is not only fighting a cause for the Malays but for all Malaysians from different ethnic origins,” he said in a statement, in response to Najib’s policy speech in the opening of UMNO Congress 2017.

Teo added he echoed the Prime Minister’s urge that Barisan Nasional must face the 14th General Election as a cohesive team.

“There should no be boycott or sabotage once the candidates are announced.

“In this regard, the level of solidarity among the BN component parties is high, more so in Barisan Nasional Sabah under the leadership of the Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Hj Aman.”
