KUANTAN: Pahang Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia's (PPBM) Youth has expressed doubt over Pakatan Harapan's choice of prime minister and deputy prime minister, saying that the move could spell trouble for Malaysia.
Its chief Raja Mohd Azlan Raja Omar said the movement was unclear as to how the move could work due to the strained relationship between de facto PKR leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
"Dr Mahathir was the one who put Anwar in prison (during the former's tenure as prime minister) and following that PKR had even labelled Dr Mahathir as a dictator.
"I personally think that it is not proper for Dr M to become prime minister. The country needs a more calibre and reliable leader.
"It does not seem to be a good move. How can he (Anwad) build a strong relationship with Dr Mahathir when he (Dr Mahathir) was responsible in putting him in jail.
"We are concerned on what will happen if Anwar becomes prime minister or remain only as a deputy prime minister," he said.
Meanwhile, Temerloh PPBM Youth chief Sharipul Fairuz Mohd Sharip said the movement was unsure about Pakatan Harapan's future with Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail being named the interim deputy prime minister.
"Dr Mahathir was responsible in putting Anwar in prison and he (Anwar) has been in and out (of jail) several times.
"As a wife, didn't she felt worry working with Dr Mahathir?" he said, adding that some party members were against the idea of Anwar to later become the prime minister.
"The young leaders in PPBM should be given a chance to speak out and not only listen to certain people." he said.
