HULU SELANGOR: Barisan Nasional chairman Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak wants the coalition to do away with petty squabbling.
In a rallying call to unite all rank-and-file and party leaders under a single banner, Najib said BN leaders and members in the state should look into the past and review the factors that had caused BN to have lost Selangor twice.
"One of the (main) reasons were internal squabblings. We could have won but there were those who 'cut' and 'shot' at their own allies, because they were jostling for power.
"There were infighting as well. We lost. Do not fight with each other anymore. We must stand united," Najib said in his speech to launch the Selangor BN machinery today.
He pointed out that BN should not lose for third time in state.
"Do not let it (BN's defeat in Selangor) pass for the third time. We must embolden our ambition and give the utmost focus in order for us to win the state.
"We will be able to do so if we are united. If Umno wins, it means BN wins. If MCA wins, it means BN wins. If MIC wins, it means BN wins and the same goes for all component parties. No more fighting with each other.
"Such is the ailment that we must do away with," Najib said, adding that BN's strength came from its solidarity.
He also mentioned the return of former Selangor menteri besar Muhammad Muhammad Taib, who is also known as "Mat Tyson", which was to assist BN fight in the state.
"If we look into the past we will know (the factors and outcome).
"This is why Mat Tyson is back with us. He knows the inside story (of the opposition pact). There are a host of lies, theatrics and failures (on the other side of the divide).
