KUALA LUMPUR: Opposition leaders are using the same tactic they used in the 13th General Election by accusing Barisan Nasional (BN) of using dirty tactics to win the upcoming general election.
Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak said the Opposition was doing this “simply because they know they are going to lose.”
“It is just like what happened in 2013 when the opposition already anticipated their loss but refused to admit it. Just before the 2013 General Election, Pakatan Rakyat leaders went all over the country saying that BN was going to cheat to win the election.
“After the election, they said that the lights went out due to a power failure in certain places while votes were being counted, extra ballot boxes were brought in to certain places, tens of thousands of phantom voters were flown in from Bangladesh, and so on which was later proven to be false.”
In his blogspot today, Salleh wrote that the accusations were even denied by the Bangladesh Embassy that tens of thousands of its nationals were flown in to vote in Malaysia at that time.
He said it would have taken more than 100 chartered planes to fly in that kind of crowd if such accusation by the opposition leaders was true.
“And the places where they said the lights went out confirmed that this never happened, plus opposition workers in places where they said extra ballot boxes were brought in also denied it,” he wrote.
Salleh said the Opposition knew they would not win GE13 so before the election, they ‘predicted’ they would lose due to fraud and after the election, they raised all sorts of allegations of fraud to explain why they lost.
“Now they are doing it again. Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said in his blog today that Prime Minister Najib Razak is going to cheat in GE14 on May 9, 2018 so that when they lose the election they can save face by blaming it on fraud like they did in 2013.
Salleh said this was merely a pre-emptive strike on the part of Pakatan before the official loss on the polling day.
