MEMBAKUT: A newly-wedded couple had a surprise guest at their wedding at Kampung Pimping, Bongawan, near here, today.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail arrived at the wedding reception of Mohd Faridz Izzat Samat and Siti Norazlin Tiksing, after the Kimanis by-election nomination process in Beaufort, much to the delight of the couple and their guests.
She was accompanied by Sabah Deputy Chief Minister cum state PH chief Datuk Christina Liew.
Siti Norazlin said they were told earlier today that the DPM would come.
“When she arrived, all of us were so happy and excited.
“It’s not every day that you get a visit from the country’s top leaders, and meet up close.
“Dr Wan Azizah’s presence made the day extra special and something to cherish,” she added.
Commenting on the by-election, Faridz said both candidates, Datuk Karim Bujang of Parti Warisan Sabah and Datuk Mohamad Alamin of Barisan Nasional, had a tough fight on their hands.
“It is hard to determine who will win.
“It will be close. I just hope that whoever gets to be Kimanis member of parliament will carry out his responsibilities well.
“I want the new MP to work closer with the people on the ground.
“I think one of the issues that need to be resolved is the flood problem,” he added.
