SHAH ALAM: A Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) member has hit out at his Pakatan Harapan (PH) counterpart for making repeated calls for Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to step down as prime minister.
Mohd Shaid Rosli, who is Jeram assemblyman, said he was concerned with the recent unhealthy development of certain PH party leaders and those at grassroot levels who may have deliberately not want to understand the position of Dr Mahathir as the PM.
“As elected representatives under PH, we should know that respect for a leader is important.
"It is unhealthy, or more accurately, insolent when some PH leaders make open statements in forums, newspapers, portals and so on, pushing Dr Mahathir to keep his promise and relinquish the Prime Minister position to Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
“It is known that the PH Presidential Council makes the ultimate decision in this matter.
"As a Bersatu member and Jeram state assemblyman, I call on the PH Presidential Council to issue a statement to either urge Dr Mahathir to quit or ask that he keeps his position,” said Shaid in a statement today.
Shaid also said that the presidents of each PH component party must know the best way to advice their grassroot members to not be rude with their theatrics (sandiwara) and belittle Dr Mahathir’s worthiness of a statesman.
Shaid said he does not want to see Malaysia’s number 1 leader, who is also the main figure of Bersatu to be mocked (sindir) as if he does not have dignity.
“Please do not only know how to push (for Dr Mahathir’s resignation) but when asked to make a decision, the presidential council itself is not brave (to do so).
“Once again, if you brave to make a decision to push Dr Mahathir to relinquish the post, please do so.
“If not, issue a joint statement with the Presidential Council wanting Dr Mahathir to remain as Prime Minister until a suitable time comes for him to handover the premiership to his successor.” said Shaid.
