PUTRAJAYA: The Registrar of Societies (RoS) can only wrap up its investigations into alleged discrepancies in Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) fast, provided it receives official complaints on them early.

RoS director-general Surayati Ibrahim said it only began receiving complaints from PPBM members, especially on the party’s annual general meeting, from January.

"If we had received them earlier, there is a chance we could have completed our investigations sooner," she said.

Surayati also said that its investigations into the 249 complaints received from PPBM members is running smoothly.

The RoS, she said, has never dragged its feet over the investigation into the alleged discrepancies in PPBM.

"We have to look through many documents and call up relevant people as we work at completing our investigations.

"I cannot reveal how many investigations that RoS has completed so far," she said.

On the planned protest that would be held by a group of PPBM members should RoS fail to complete its investigations within two weeks, Surayati said she would leave the matter to the police.
