GEORGE TOWN: As parents, a 46-year-old man and his 37-year-old wife, should have been setting a good example for their children.

Instead, they took drugs in front of their six kids, aged between eight and 19, in the hall of their house.

They were detained in an operation by the Penang chapter of the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) in Teluk Kumbar here yesterday.

It is learnt that the couple was high as they had just taken methamphetamine.

AADK Penang deputy director Ibrahim Muhamad Said said the couple were among seven people detained during an operation which took place from midnight to 6am.

“All those detained, aged 20 to 55, will be investigated under the Drugs Dependants (Treatment and Rehabilitation) Act, 1983.

“We will carry out continuous operations to wipe out the drug menace, and we hope the people will cooperate with us by sharing any information they have,” he added.
