868 UTMSPACE graduates receive diplomas

JOHOR BARU: A total of 868 graduates of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia’s (UTM) School of Professional and Continuing Education (UTMSPACE) received their diplomas at Dewan Sultan Iskandar today.

At the ceremony, 169 graduates received executive diplomas, while 709 received professional diplomas.

UTM vice-chancellor Professor Datuk Dr Wahid Omar said, in line with rapid developments in digital technology, an important criteria in facing the challenges of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 was continuous learning.

He said this would ensure that human resources remains relevant in the country’s development and prosperity.

“You should always expand your knowledge and skills consistently as it is the emphasis in life-long learning.

“Through this, we will be able to open our minds and improve our way of thinking as well as make good decisions in an organisation.

“This is also in line with UTM’s mission and vision to build universal prosperity through the expansion of self potential as well as through excellence in science and technology,” said Wahid.

Meanwhile, chairman of UTMSPACE’s board of directors Datuk Abu Bakar Mohd Noor said reading was an important component in life.

“Find the right material and learning approach that is suitable with your lifestyle and commitments.

“Prove to your family and friends that learning and gaining knowledge should be continuous.

“For 25 years, UTM and UTMSPACE have been offering life-long learning opportunities through professional development programmes like short courses, seminars, workshops and conferences,” he said.
