Doors are a must in every home. You must have them at the main entrance, side entrance if you have one, and the backdoor or yard.
This is to ensure the home is safe and so you can sleep peacefully without worrying any stranger walking in anytime.
Besides safety, a door has many other purposes.
Does your entry door squeak or whine every time when you open or close it? Or are there any items obstructing the door? Does the door have an extra ordinary colour that seems weird at a first glance? What have you done about it?
Do you also know that a squeaky door or one that has a dull colour can affect your mood?
The front door, or the main door as many refer to, is very important in feng shui.
According to an article by feng shui expert Rodika Tchi (www.thespruce.com), in Feng Shui, a home gets its Chi (energy nourishment), through the front door.
The stronger, healthier and more balanced the front door is, the stronger and better the quality of energy available for those who live in the house.
Rodika shared a few tips with her readers that define a strong front door with good Feng Shui.
1. OPEN FLOW OF ENERGY
This means the door, both inside and outside, should not be obstructed by any object such as pots, umbrellas, shoes, vases, tables, chairs, dustbins or dead plants. The pathway should be clear from everything. This is also to ensure that no one trips as they walk in, especially in the night.
2. A WELL-CARED FOR FRONT DOOR
You should pay more attention to the front door since it is the place where you first greet and welcome visitors. The door should be able to open wide and close properly with no squeaky sounds being made both ways. The door should be painted in a colour most suitable to you and your family. The doorknob should not be rusty, and neither should the frame be worn out. Love your door the way you love your home.
3. COLOUR IN HARMONY WITH DIRECTION
People have different love for colour. But if you love bright pink or purple, it would be odd to have the door painted in those colours. You wouldn’t want anyone staying at your door and passing negative comments.
So, the best is to get a colour that is either common, or suitable according to the direction of your home to harness the best energy. Choose a colour that is in harmony with the element of its direction.
4. SMOOTH MAIN ENTRY
A good solid door with the right choice of colour opens up to abundance of positive energy. If your door is made of wood and is cracking or old and growing with fungus, change it!
5. RIGHT PROPORTIONS
The door must be according to the size of the house. A small door for a big house is not advisable.
6. BALANCE AND HARMONY
Make sure the energy that flows through the front door brings about balance and harmony. Consult a Feng Shui expert for this if you are unsure.
