KUALA LUMPUR: Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani won their first title of the season following a series of poor results at the Malaysia International Challenge in Pasir Gudang on Sunday.

Second seeds Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin took just 32 minutes to record a 21-19, 21-12 win over compatriots Shia Chun Kang-Tan Wee Gieen in the men’s doubles final.

The win is a huge motivation for the World No 49 pair who were struggling with form after reaching the final of the Malaysia Masters in January.

Izzuddin believes the title will help them regain their confidence for the 2018 season.

“It is a huge motivation to win here as it is our final tournament of the season.

“We were having issues after the Malaysia Masters, but we continued to work hard in training.

“We need to iron out weaknesses and prepare well in hope for better results next year,” said Izzuddin.

Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin defeated compatriot Leong Jun Hao, a runner-up in this year’s World Junior Championships, 21-11, 21-13 for the men’s singles crown.

“Jun Hao is young and has a great future ahead. I used my experience and was patient in the match.

“I believe he was carrying an injury as his movements were limited on court,” said Iskandar. who will play in the South Korea Masters on Nov 28-Dec 3.

Indonesian Ruselli Hartawan defeated Taiwan’s Ying Chun Lin 21-14, 21-13 in the women’s singles final while Japan’s Misato Aratama-Akane Watanabe won the doubles title with a 21-18, 21-15 win over Thailand’s Kittipak Dubthuk-Natcha Saengchote.
