KUALA LUMPUR: Soong Joo Ven reached the men’s singles second round of the Korea Masters in Gwangju on Tuesday.
The World No 61 took only 35 minutes to overcome Czech Republic’s Milan Ludik 21-13, 21-18 to set up a second round clash against South Korean Ko Gyung Bo on Wednesday.
“I was down 12-15 in the second game, but I managed to claw back to seal the win. I am not setting a target here...I will try to do my best in every match,” said Joo Ven.
Independent shuttler Chong Wei Feng bounced back from a first game blemish to oust Korean Kim Yog Hyun 15-21, 21-14, 21-13. He plays China’s Zhou Zeqi in the second round.
Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin failed to make an impression, losing 21-17, 10-21, 21-18 to Taiwan’s Lin Chia Hsuan.
