KUALA LUMPUR: MotoGP rookie Hafizh Syahrin Abdullah is determined to continue his impressive form at the Grand Prix of the Americas which starts on Friday.
After the Argentina GP earlier this month, the Monster Yamaha Tech3 rider spent four days training at the renowned Colin Edwards Texas Tornado boot camp in preparation for the Austin round and is in fine form.
“I’m really happy with the results that we’ve done in the first two races and I’m looking forward to the grand prix this weekend," said Hafizh.
"I will try to do the same or end up even better. Before Austin, I prepared myself with some training at the Colin Edwards boot camp.
"So, my physical condition is good, I improved step by step and I’m more than ready for this third round. I can’t wait to meet my team again and I hope I can give my best to them.”
The Circuit of the Americas (COTA) will be familar to Hafizh who has raced there every season in his four years in Moto2. He managed sixth in 2015, 16th in 2016 and was 11th last year.
Hafizh, signed as a late replacement for the ill Jonas Folger, has exceeded expectations this year, finishing in the points at both the season opening round in Qatar (14th) and Argentina (ninth). He is currently 13th in the overall MotoGP standings with nine points.
