POAD Kassim revolutionised sprinting in Malaysia by producing Kuala Lumpur Sea Games 100m champion Khairul Hafiz Jantan.
Now the coach wants to identify and produce the next generation of sprint kings by setting up an academy to be known as “Poad Sprint Academy.”
“I am thinking of establishing an academy to share my knowledge to other budding sprinters. It is currently on a trial basis and if there is an encouraging response, I will probably take it seriously.
“It would be great if private bodies can help make my dream a reality. I want to produce a sprinter with abilities similar to Khairul’s and also share my knowledge to others,” said Poad.
Poad, who has a degree in Physical Education, is a disciplinarian and is also a no-nonsense coach who demands total commitment from his sprinters.
Poad said he is formulating a new programme for Khairul who has recovered from his injuries which were sustained after he won the 100m gold medal at the Sea Games.
