KUALA LUMPUR: Former world champion Azizulhasni Awang won the keirin bronze in the third leg of the UCI Track Cycling World Cup in Berlin on Saturday.

Matthijs Buchli of the Netherlands, the 2018 world champion, won the race while 2017 sprint world champion Matthew Glaetzer claimed the silver.

Azizulhasni reached the top-six final for the first time this season after he finished second in the second round heat behind Buchli.

The achievement is a huge boost to his confidence after he was eliminated early in the opening two legs at Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, France and Milton, Canada last month.

Azizul is also the Jakarta Asian Games sprint champion.
