National No 1 Ng Eain Yow produced a promising performance to reach the second round of the Egyptian Open.
The 21-year-old came into the competition high on confidence after claiming his biggest PSA Tour title at the Malaysian Open last month.
And that confidence clearly showed as the World No 32 was in his element as he scored an 11-6, 8-11, 11-4, 11-4 win over local wildcard Yehia Elnawasany in Cairo yesterday.
Eain Yow was quickly off the blocks to take the first game.
The 17-year-old Yehia, however, bounced back to nick the second game.
But Eain Yow lived up to expectations and stepped up when it mattered to take the win after 46 minutes.
He meets either Germany’s World No 30 Raphael Kandra or Egyptian world junior runner-up Moustafa Elsirty in the next round.
There was, however, no joy for national No 2 Ivan Yuen after he bowed out to Hong Kong’s Max Lee in a brutal five-setter contest.
Ivan took the first game against Max but couldn’t capitalise as he lost 10-12, 11-7, 11-8, 9-11,11-6 in 69 minutes.
