KKB by-election: Is media silence golden for PN candidate?

KUALA KUBU BARU: Why is Perikatan Nasional keeping its Kuala Kubu Baharu candidate Khairul Azhari Saut away from the media?

This is the main question being asked by newsmen after Khairul's interviews with the media were cancelled today at the instructions of Bersatu's top leadership.

"We are sorry to inform that all planned interviews with the media today have been cancelled and will be postponed to a later date which will be announced soon," PN's campaign coordinator told the New Straits Times.

Several other media outlets which had planned interviews with Khairul were also sent similar messages.

When pressed to explain the reason for the last minute cancellation of interviews, the spokesman only said that "something had come up" and the instruction to cancel media engagements were decided by Bersatu's top leadership.

NST is attempting to reach Bersatu for comment.

Khairul is in a four-cornered fight for the Kuala Kubu Baharu state seat.

The May 11 by-election was triggered by the death of its incumbent Lee Kee Hiong.
