A ROAD sign in Jalan Tun Sardon, George Town, heading for Balik Pulau from Paya Terubong is badly damaged.

It was damaged during the landslide in November.

The signboard is crucial for motorists, especially those who are not familiar with the area, as they could accidentally enter another road in Jalan Paya Terubong heading for Bukit Jambul instead of going to Balik Pulau, or vice-versa.

A motorist, Azizul Hakim, told Actionline that he once missed the corner from Paya Terubong heading for Balik Pulau, which caused him to be late for work by an hour.

“I am not from here. I just moved here a few months ago and am not familiar with the road. I hope the authorities can fix this problem as soon as possible.”

State Public Works Department director Ahmad Redza Ghulam Rasool said his department would fix it as soon as possible.

“We apologise for any inconvenience.

“The district office is offering a tender to repair the damage caused by the landslide last year, and that includes fixing the damaged road sign there.”
