KUALA LUMPUR: The Securities Commission (SC) has clarified that its managing director of corporate finance and investments (CFI) Eugene Wong Weng Soon had informed his decision to leave upon the completion of his contract next month.
The SC was responding to various reports regarding the upcoming departure of key senior staff members including Wong.
“After 10 years of service with the SC, Eugene Wong believed it was the right time for him to seek new challenges. He had given the SC eight months’ notice to ensure the completion of several major projects.
“The SC would like to thank Eugene Wong for his dedication and contribution to the development of the Malaysian capital market during his tenure with the SC,” it said in a statement today.
Wong was appointed as SC non-executive member on March 1, 2016.
He currently serves as the Malaysian Accounting Standards Board adviser and was previously a council member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants and chairman of its Ethics Standards Board.
Besides Wong, SC had reportedly confirmed that CFI general manager (equities) Hayati Aman Hashim was also leaving for other career opportunities by year-end.
