KUALA LUMPUR: Xiaomi has launched the world’s first 108 megapixel (MP) Penta camera phones - the Mi Note 10 and the Mi Note 10 Pro.

Besides having the biggest pixel count in a camera setup, the phones also feature 6GB RAM+128GB ROM, and a big 5260mAh battery.

The Mi Note 10 Pro comes with an 8-piece lens (instead of 7 like in the Mi Note 10) and a larger 8GB RAM + 256GB ROM.

The penta camera era

The Mi Note 10 encompasses five different lenses - a 108MP wide-angle lens, 5MP telephoto lens, 12MP telephoto lens, 20MP ultra wide-angle lens, and a 2 MP macro lens. This setup enables a seamless zoom experience from 0.6x to 50x without compromising image quality.

The 108MP main camera takes mobile photography to the next level and marks an industry first. With the Samsung ISOCELL Bright HMX 108MP sensor, Mi Note 10 features the highest resolution of any smartphone on the market – 12,032 x 9,024.

With the 108MP camera, one can basically produce billboard-level prints up to 4.24 metres high. The device offers a 1/1.33-inch large image sensor that supports 4-in-1 pixel binning to capture more detail in low-light conditions, while the 4-axis OIS enables unmatched clarity.

Photography enthusiasts who love natural looking portrait photos will be pleased by Mi Note 10’s 12MP 2x telephoto lens at 50mm focal length, which is one of the most popular focal lengths for portrait shots. Under low light conditions, the 1.4μm large pixel size and dual PD autofocus allows for sharper and brighter portraits.

The 5MP 5x telephoto lens, meanwhile, is capable of 10x hybrid and 50x digital zoom to complete the epic zoom range. In addition, the lens is also equipped with OIS and a f/2.0 aperture for better images under non-optimal lighting environments.

If you’re into landscape photography, you’ll appreciate the phone’s 20MP ultra-wide angle lens which gives 117 degrees field of view. This will let users capture epic landscapes and large group photos without having to cut people out. The macro lens, meanwhile, offers autofocus for close-ups images.

Mi Note 10’s rear camera setup supports all-new Night Mode 2.0 which allows for greater light capture and combines multiple shots of the same scene for increased versatility.

Concert-goers and night photographers will be thrilled with the RAW multi-frame noise reduction.

Video

Mi Note 10 also offers ShootSteady video technology for a smooth and steady video experience, along with 960 frames-per-second macro slow-motion video and 4K video with the ultra-wide angle. Users can leverage Vlog mode to easily create stylish and engaging videos with seven different cinematic effects.

Aside from the powerful penta rear camera setup, the phone also features a 32MP front camera, which offers AI beautify, AI portrait selfies, AI scene detection, and AI face unlock, panorama selfie, and palm shutter feature for amazing selfies.

For those looking for an ultimate photography experience, Xiaomi also offers Mi Note 10 Pro with an 8-piece lens on the primary camera. The 8-piece lens deliver images that look clearer and sharper.

Stylish design

The Mi Note 10 features a beautiful 6.47-inch 3D curved AMOLED display. The edge-to-edge display offers slimmer bezels than ever before for a totally immersive experience, while the 400,000:1 contrast ratio allows for deeper blacks and higher colour fidelity.

Besides that, the phone features 88 percent thinner in-screen optical fingerprint sensor, with a 10 percent larger fingerprint detection area which is responsive under strong light, cold conditions, and dry fingers.

On the back, it is encased with 3D curved glass which provides secure grip. Both the front and the back feature Corning Gorilla Glass 5, adding increased scratch resistance for everyday durability.

The device is offered in three elegant colours - Midnight Black, Aurora Green, and Glacier White.

Bigger battery

The long-lasting 5260mAh battery one the Mi Note 10 supports 30W fast-charge and can stay charged for more than two days. The device also utilises the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G mobile platform with 8nm process technology for smooth operation.

Besides the hardware, the Mi Note 10 comes preinstalled with MIUI 11 user interface. The MIUI 11 introduces a whole new design and a set of upgraded features to improve your work efficiency and make your life easier.

Removing unnecessary interface elements and visual clutter, the MIUI 11 brings content into the spotlight. Making efficient use of AMOLED screen capabilities, it makes Always-on Display a good personalisation tool.
