KUALA LUMPUR: Although her performance received thunderous applause from the audience and a standing ovation from the three judges of Asia's Got Talent, runner-up winner of reality TV competition Vokal... Bukan Sekadar Rupa, Mafarikha Md Akhir, confessed that she was all nerves while singing during the Judge’s Audition in Episode 3 of the talent show.
As soon as she finished singing her rendition of Mariah Carey’s hit song Hero, the three judges of the competition, David Foster, Anggun and Jay Park, were all praises for the 25-year-old talent.
Mafarikha, who had been trying to find a solid footing in the entertainment industry for the past six years, earlier on apologised for keeping her participation in the second season of the talent competition a secret, even though she had been asked about it on numerous occasions.
In a post on her Instagram account yesterday, Mafarikha wrote: "Yes, it’s true. It was me on Asia's Got Talent. I have been away from the stage for such a long time now and I was extremely nervous, so much so that many had commented that I had such a pale face before my performance.”
The singer added that it was a bittersweet moment when the production queried her on her disappearance from the entertainment industry over the past few years.
“There have been many challenges throughout my singing career and, honestly, I’m tired of being asked the same tired old question. But I’m really happy as well to be able to represent Malaysia for the second season of the competition.”
"I will give it my very best, especially for those who have shown their unwavering support for me over the past six years,” she added.
Mafarikha, who had released five singles including Jujur Saja Sayang, said that her participation in the reality TV show also signalled her readiness to return to showbiz.
Asia's Got Talent is aired in 27 Asian countries. The names of 24 contestants that have successfully made it to the semi-finals will be announced after the last episode of the Judge’s Auditions, which will air on November 9.
