KUALA LUMPUR: It seems that people just can’t get enough of Hollywood and Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra.
From raising awareness to the plight of Rohingya refugees in Bangladeshi camps via the United Nations Children's Fund (Unicef) and attending Prince Harry’s royal wedding to happily jet-setting around the world together with hunky beau Nick Jonas, the 35-year-old Indian star has been consistently making headlines.
According to The Indian Express, she recently became the Bollywood celebrity with the most followers on Instagram amounting to over 25 million fans, beating other Indian luminaries such as Deepika Padukone (24.9 million), Shah Rukh Khan (13.3 million), Salman Khan (17.3 million) and Aamir Khan (1.2 million).
The Quantico star thanked her supporters in an Instagram Stories entry yesterday, in which she wrote: “25 million strong.. Thank you for the love.. Love you right back.”
Priyanka was a former Miss World who built up a niche presence in the Hindi cinema scene before making her journey to Hollywood.
Starting off with a singing career there, she then received the good fortune to play the lead character in the American TV drama thriller Quantico.
Boosted by her global popularity, Priyanka also received roles in the Hollywood movies Baywatch (2017) and A Kid Like Jake (2018).
In the upcoming Ali Abbas Zafar-directed Hindi movie Bharat, which is an adaptation of the 2014 South Korean drama film Ode To My Father, the actress will be sharing the screen with Salman.
The two stars had last worked together 11 years ago in the fantasy comedy God Tussi Great Ho.
