KUALA LUMPUR: Fans of popular K-Pop group Exo recently got a pleasant surprise when they noticed a very unexpected collaboration between the group’s sub-unit Exo-CBX with a very prominent brand known for its mighty superheroes.
According to Koreaboo, Exo-CBX, which consists of members Chen, Baekhyun and Xiumin, has teamed up with Marvel for some fan merchandise.
It is believed that the move is in conjunction with the sub-unit’s upcoming concert, Magical Circus 2019: Special Edition, which takes place in Japan next week.
The special merchandise items, which were accompanied by details written in Japanese, featured Xiumin being linked to Captain America, Baekhyun to Iron Man and Chen to The Hulk.
They were a combination of cute images of the superheroes combined with the members’ names and group symbols as seen on various items that included T-shirts, badges, key chains and tape.
Fans, or Exo-Ls as they’re known, were quick to react positively and expressed their delight on social media to the surprise collaboration that no one ever saw coming.
One wrote: “OMG Exo and Marvel. Combining 2 of my favourite things!” Another said: “Exo/Marvel enthusiasts, we won big!”
Meanwhile, Soompi reported that fellow Exo member Sehun had started trending on Twitter at midnight in conjunction with the idol’s birthday.
The music outfit’s youngest member turned 25 today and several hashtags, which included #ShiningSehunDay, #HappySehunDay and “Happy birthday Sehun” in Korean, were on the trending list.
Fans also went online to shower the fresh-faced artiste with well wishes. One fan wrote: “You’ve grown so much since we first saw you, yet there’s no doubting that the heart you have is still golden and is still as pure as always.”
Another wrote: “Beneath it all is a sensitive, gentle and loyal heart. You put in a lot of thought for your loved ones around you and that inspires me to be better. Happiest birthday Sehun, you are loved, may you always be healthy and happy.”
