KUALA LUMPUR: Singer Nadia Hasnan will have to be satisfied finishing in third in the I-Sing World 2019 held in Stockholm, Sweden recently.
The 29-year-old artiste impressed audiences with her traditional Ulek Mayang performance, complete with a golden dress.
Even though she did not win the top spot, Nadia said she was most honoured to get the third prize.
Best of all, she said, was that she also took home Best Costume with her splendid traditional Terengganu Malay outfit.
“So sorry, I only got third place. My journey to I-Sing World 2019 is complete. It won't be the first nor the last time I'm representing my country," she said in an Instagram post yesterday.
Besides Ulek Mayang, Nadia, who is an actress and a radio announcer, also performed Bonnie Tyler's popular 1980s song Total Eclipse Of The Heart.
Nadia was not the only Malaysian in the competition. Another singer, Husaini Mahmur, won second prize.
Netizens, including recording artistes, congratulated Nadia.
“Well done, Nadia!" said singer-songwriter Amylea Azizan of Akademi Fantasia 3.
“Alhamdulillah! Tahniah Nadia Haswani," said comedian Amir of Raja Lawak.
“Great job Nadia!" said singer-actress Ezlynn Ariffin.
Last September, Nadia won I-Sing Malaysia, the national-level contest for I-Sing World, which was held at the Quill City Mall in Jalan Sultan Ismail.
She performed two songs, Beyonce's hit song If I Were A Boy and Es Lilin by Nining Meida.
Nadia's best known songs are Kau Aku Satu, Cinta Twitta and Histeria, the theme song for the 2008 horror film Histeria which starred Liyana Jasmay and Scha Alyahya.
She has also appeared in comedy series Angguk-Angguk Geleng-Geleng and the telemovies Geng Raya Zizan and Kembali Kepada Fitrah.
Malaysia will host I-Sing World 2020.
