JERANTUT: Stranded guests and staff of Mutiara Resort Taman Negara were rescued by firemen, here today.

Around 120 of them, which included 80 tourists, were trapped at the resort when Sungai Tembeling overflowed its bank yesterday, resulting in the surrounding areas to be inundated with water up to one-meter-deep.

They will temporarily be placed at the hostel of SMK Jubli Perak Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah in Kuala Tahan, before being transported to Jerantut tomorrow.

The tourists were rescued after firemen managed to access the area using boats. However the area was not accessible in the morning due to the rain.
