BUKIT MERTAJAM: A petrol station in Permatang Tok Kandun on Jalan Permatang Pauh here was robbed early today.
An employee of the petrol station was shocked when he saw the glass windows were shattered when he arrived at the station to open for business.
Seberang Perai Tengah police chief Assistant Commissioner of Police Rusli Mohd Noor said based on the closed circuit television footage and finger prints lifted from the crime scene, police believe that a gang of four is responsible for the robbery.
"We believe the four suspects fled the scene with two motorcycles, a Honda EX-5 and Kawasaki Kips," he said adding that the robbers made away with RM4,000 worth of items, including a sales machines, various brands of cigarettes and engine oil.
The case will be investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for break-ins and theft, which carries a maximum jail sentence of 14 years and fine.
