KUALA LUMPUR: Action comedy Polis Evo which stars award-winning actors Shaheizy Sam and Zizan Razak as zany yet competent police investigators pursuing a ruthless drug kingpin in Kuala Terengganu, has raked in more than RM2.5 million at the box office in four days.

Polis Evo’s producer Astro Shaw’s public relations and marketing associate Zahirah Abdul Rahim said in a statement yesterday that the movie opened in 98 cinemas nationwide and in Brunei on Sept 17 and the company was delighted that moviegoers were giving it strong support.

Directed by Ghaz Bakar, Polis Evo sees Zizan and Shaheizy Sam play tough police detectives Sani and Khai respectively. The duo have vastly oppositive personalities - Khai is very serious while Sani is a bit of a joker - yet they work effectively together.

The film also stars Nora Danish, Mimi Ernida, Wan Hanafi Su, Ayie Hushairi, Pablo Amirul, Yuzz Murai, Amerul Affendi, Eyka Farhana and the late Harun Salim Bachik.

Costing RM2.4 million, the film was shot over a month last year, with most of its scenes being Kuala Terengganu.

Polis Evo also comes with a theme song Evo, composed by Audi Mok and performed by Joe Flizzow and SonaOne.
